Based on Éric Fottorino’s novel, with a screenplay by the author, DARK LOVE is a dizzying exploration of the mysteries of love, set against the wild landscapes of the Brittany coastline in northern France. Pierre, a fisherman and father to two children, is a widower. He is still living in the shadow of his wife’s memory when he meets Laura, who has just left the big city to settle on the coast with her son. Pierre would love to start a new home, stable and happy. Laura is romantic and passionate. They fall madly in love and soon have a daughter, Autumn.
But over time, their feelings are confronted with the ghosts of the past and Laura’s repressed nature. Harsh and lyrical, with a real sense of suspense around the story of Pierre and Laura, two people in search of happiness and yet condemned, DARK LOVE offers a memorable study of a couple enveloped with overtones of tragedy.
